I was born in Memphis Tennessee, birth place of Rock-n- Roll and the "Home of the Blues". Growing up in Whitehaven was a lot of fun for the most part. It was a family oriented, middle class neighborhood not far from Graceland. I came up listening to great Memphis music from Issac Hayes, to Al Green and was enamoured with early 90's hip hop. When I was 12 I moved to Connecticut about an hour from NYC. Music was always a part of me. As a teen I was attracted to the stage and especially the microphone. I would freestyle in the lunchroom while someone banged on the table. I lived there for 3 years then we moved back to Memphis. In high school I performed in talent shows and hosted house parties. That's when other people started to notice my talent. I stuck with it and I began my recording career in 99' when I co-wrote Mr. Del's "Ass & Tittez". The song was an instant success in the clubs and on the radio. You couldn't go 5 minutes without hearing that damn song on the radio! We toured all over the South from Knoxville to Miami." Three Six Mafia bought the rights to the song and did a remix to it on Hypnotize Camp Posses album which reached gold status. Mr. Del's Lyrical Millennium sold over 100,000 units independently. I got my first taste of success, the business of entertainment, and experiencing life on the road.
I was offered a recording contract with Lootchase Records, a label out of Memphis. Lootchase's first release was a compilation titled "A Million Ain't Enough". The album featured Playa Fly, Skinny Pimp, Tela and the entire Lootchase roster. It went on to sell over 50,000 units. The label folded after bad business decisions which left the company bankrupt. Without a budget or a producer it was time for me to finance my whole dream. It was a big change from just "being a rapper". The producer I was working with at the time started to flake out on a studio sessions and I couldn't record when I was ready. I said to myself Imma make my own beats - fu&% this!! This was an easy decision but it wasn't an easy process. It took me 6 months to make my first beat on an MPC I bought online. With the help of my childhood friends I started a production company called "Just Us Entertainment". Just Us Ent. independently released 2 projects. The first release was titled "In the Beginning it was Just Us". The second release was named "Just Us Mixtape Vol 1". Both projects sold over 5000 units a piece out of the trunk, hand to hand. I produced the majority of the beats on both projects and continue to stockpile my beat arsenal, polish my rhyming skills, and make good music from the heart. Be sure to catch my latest independent projects "Beale Street Blues" and "New Memphis State of Mind" which can be found on the homepage of my website @ IamJustinCredible.com, on I-tunes, CDBaby, and Amazon.com.
